Yes. And here is exactly how to check, rather than being asked to take our word for it.
## What a decant actually is
Perfume moved from the manufacturer's bottle into a smaller one. Nothing added, nothing removed, nothing diluted. The 2ml in your vial came out of the same bottle you would buy in a shop.
What you are paying for is the chance to live with a fragrance for a week before spending forty-odd pounds on it.
## Where the perfume comes from
Every bottle we decant from is bought in the UK, sealed, from established retailers and suppliers. We do not import directly and we do not buy from unverified marketplace sellers — those are two of the most common routes counterfeit stock takes into this country, and avoiding both is a deliberate choice rather than a convenience.
## How a vial gets filled
Bottles are opened only to decant. Each fragrance has its own syringe — nothing is shared between scents, because residue from a previous fragrance is the fastest way to ruin the next one. Vials are new and never reused. Filling, capping and labelling happen in one pass, so nothing stands open.
## What we don't do
We do not dilute. No carrier alcohol, no stretching a bottle further than it goes.
We do not mix or reformulate.
We do not refill a branded bottle and sell it as the original.
## Why a sample can smell different from the tester you tried
Two honest reasons, and neither one means something is wrong.
Testers age. A bottle on a shop counter has been open for months, sprayed hundreds of times, standing under lights. The top notes go first. A fresh decant often opens sharper and brighter than the tester did.
You are not a blotter. Fragrance behaves differently on skin than on paper, and differently on your skin than on anyone else's. That is the entire reason to wear something for a week rather than judge it in thirty seconds at a counter.
## How to check for yourself
Compare the drydown rather than the first thirty seconds — the opening is the least stable part of any fragrance and the part that varies most between a fresh bottle and an old tester.
Check the notes against the brand's own listing. We publish the manufacturer's pyramid unedited, including when it is shorter than you would expect.
And if something still seems wrong, email hello@seelct.com. We would rather refund you than have you wondering.
